About ESR

Our Mission

ESR is the first wildlife conservation group to use humor and professional animation to make people laugh while teaching them about animal biology and behavior! We partner with the world’s leading conservation scientists to raise money for their urgent projects to save endangered animals and help coral battle climate change. Our projects help local people economically, ensuring long-term success.

Our passionate scientists lead small to mid-sized non-profits which spend nearly all of their money on fieldwork, with little overhead. This ensures your donations are working efficiently. A board of scientific advisors vets each of our projects.

Our Founder

Peter received his BA in History from Columbia University and his MBA in Entrepreneurship & Marketing from Babson College. He studied wildlife management in Kenya, tropical forest ecology in Costa Rica, and has traveled the world to meet with wildlife biologists.

He sold the advertising company he co-founded, BrandAid Marketing Corporation (Nasdaq BAMK), where he directed all child & teen market research and ad sales. His clients included Nickelodeon, The Cartoon Network, Disney, Paramount, Hasbro, and General Mills.  Peter’s article “The Appeal of Harry Potter”, which explains the deep psychological appeal this story holds for 7-12-year-olds, appeared in the Columbia Teachers College Record and is widely cited, as is his examination of the entire body of Maurice Sendak’s work, entitled “Wild Thing: Maurice Sendak’s Inner Monster”.

He founded the Columbia East Harlem Tutorial Program, which tutors inner-city children ages 7-14 in reading, writing and math.

Peter subsequently published the luxury magazine Historic New York which featured rare photos of Marilyn Monroe, Joe DiMaggio, & Edgar Allan Poe – and Peter’s personal interviews of soccer star Pelé, artist Fernando Botero, & tiger expert Alan Rabinowitz. 1/3 of revenues were donated to wildlife conservation.

Peter felt bringing humor to wildlife conservation would attract millions of people to join the fight to save animals. The characters he creates, from the villainous Carbonita, to the buffoonish Smyke, to the enraged endangered animals Picasso the Painted Dog, Cleopatra the Cheetah, & Olivia from Bolivia the pink dolphin – all help!
