ESR’s only ghost character! Uma works hard with ESR to rescue captive Asian elephants in Thailand, India and elsewhere who have been kidnapped from their families in the wild and are being used for people’s entertainment, at weddings, being ridden by tourists at hotels and tourist sites, and in street shows.

These super-intelligent and super-emotional animals, who live very long lives, are extraordinarily social animals, who are often kept alone in captivity. They deserve to be free to live out their lives in rehabilitation centers with other elephant friends.

ESR also works to reduce the number of elephants taken into captivity in the first place. Horribly, poachers kill mother elephants in the wild, steal their babies, and then torture the baby elephants until their will is reduced – so the babies do whatever the human wants forever – for fear of being tortured again.

Sadly, many tourists to Asia do not realize the elephants used to entertain them have been treated this way.
