This moon bear and panda fighting duo use their super powers to rescue moon bears held captive in small cages in the horrifying “bear bile farming” industry of Asia.

They also try to stop poachers from killing moon bears in the wild – to illegally sell their gall bladders – the organ which contains the bile that some people in Asia superstitiously believe heals many different, completely unrelated diseases. From hangovers to hemorrhoids!

Moon bears, also called “Asiatic brown bears,” get their name from the beautiful cream-colored or yellow crescent moon shape marking on their brown chests. They have shaggy neck hair, like small manes.

Although it may be true that acids found in bear bile can help liver, gallbladder and eye conditions – today, exact synthetic versions of these acids made in laboratories now exist (as well as herbal alternatives) – so there is zero reason to continue torturing innocent, highly-intelligent, emotionally-intelligent bears. But older generations of people feel that only bear bile extracted directly from live bears, or from the gall bladders of poached bears, has “the best” healing powers.

Sadly, after poachers kill mother bears in the wild who are fighting to protect their cubs—they steal the cubs and illegally sell them into lives of physical and psychological misery—for the cubs are locked in “crush cages,” too small for them to ever turn around in, or to stand upright, for the rest of their lives . . . sometimes after 30 years! These cold-hearted or uneducated bile bear “owners” insert permanent tubes through the bears’ abdomens into their gall bladders, to extract liquid bile each day—causing severe pain, infections, and mental stress.

These poor bears kept on concrete floors, will never touch grass, or socialize with other bears…unless they are rescued! Then they can be brought to outdoor rehabilitation centers to live out their lives in freedom, playing and swimming for the first time, and making friends with other rescued bears.

While countries such as Vietnam and South Korea have recently banned bear bile farming, sadly, the practice is still legal in China—where multi-billion dollar pharmaceutical companies hold thousands of captive, sad bears, from whom they extract bile.

These pharmaceutical companies claim that because their method of extracting bile from captive bears is germ-free and does not cause the bear infections, that it is not cruel.

Sadly, these companies are making such enormous sums of money from imprisoning these bears that they find it difficult to stop.

To make matters worse, because bear bile is now used in everything from wine, to shampoo, to hangover cures – it is very easy for people to get used to the fact that is “okay” to use bear bile.

So, it is vital to teach a new generation of people that it is terribly cruel, and today completely unnecessary, to use actual bear bile, for any reason.

It is estimated that roughly 20,000 bile bears are imprisoned across China, on both small and large “bear bile farms.”
